Low Back Pain

LOW BACK PAIN

Low back pain is associated with excess kidney qi and thus is found more pronounced between 5-7pm.

Poor endurance in your deep-back and abdominal muscles-the spine stabilizers with exotic-sounding names such as multifidus, quadratus lumborum, longissimus, iliocostalis, latissimus dorsi, and transverse abdominis-along with poor muscle-activation patterns, leaves you unable to sit or stand with good posture for extended periods. And poor posture increases stress on your vertebrae,

The posterior chain (PC) is a group of muscles comprised primarily of the back extensors and hip extensors. More specifically, it includes the force-producing muscles of the lumbar and thoraco-lumbar erector spinae, quadratus lumborum and superficial multifidus.

The deep multifidus are considered stabilising muscles and their close proximity to the vertebral axis for lumbar extension make them ineffective as torque producers.

However, they are critical in providing segmental vertebral stability of the lumbar spine to prevent shear forces acting across the disc and vertebral segment.

The hip muscles involved in the PC include the gluteus maximus, adductor magnus and hamstring muscle group. These are the major torque producers of the hip.

LOW BACK and HIP PAIN
Poor endurance in your deep-back and abdominal muscles — your spine stabilizers with exotic-sounding names such as multifidus, quadratus lumborum, longissimus, iliocostalis, latissimus dorsi, and transverse abdominis — along with poor muscle-activation patterns, leaves you unable to sit or stand with good posture for extended periods. And poor posture increases stress on your spinal vertebrae,

That’s the reason we use the Biopulser to perform Percussion therapy on your posterior chain (PC). This is a group of muscles comprised primarily of your back extensors and hip extensors; WHICH ARE:

More specifically your Percussion Therapy includes applications to the force-producing muscles of the lumbar and thoraco-lumbar erector spinae, quadratus lumborum and superficial multifidus. The deep multifidus are considered stabilising muscles and their close proximity to the vertebral axis for lumbar extension make them ineffective as torque producers. However, they are critical in providing segmental vertebral stability to the lumbar spine and they prevent shear forces acting across the disc and vertebral segment.

The Percussive action of the Biopulser reinitializes these muscles when they get shut down. The hip muscles we treat with Percussion Therapy include the gluteus maximus, adductor magnus and hamstring muscle group. These are the major torque producers of the hip and normalizing these muscles enables increased hip stability and function.
